Writing Cover Letters
What is a Cover letter? It is an introductory letter that is generally submitted with a resume or CV (this stands for curriculum vitae, which is a longer and more detailed version of a resume) when applying for a job, volunteer position, university or specialized academic program, and so on.
Why is a Cover Letter important? A cover letter provides the reader – a potential employer, for example - with an introduction to you, and also allows you to “personalize” your application for their organization. Your communication skills are on display in a cover letter – it should be written formally but with enthusiasm!
