THE CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF HAVING A BRAIN TUMOR BRAIN TUMOR RESEARCH By: Ari Thomas 11/19/14

BENIGN BRAIN TUMOR ●A benign brain tumor is a noncancerous type of tumor that grows slowly. It is a mass of cells in the brain. ●It usually stays in one place it does not go to other places in the body. ●A benign brain tumor is a type of tumor that doesn't doesn't follow normal cell division

BENIGN BRAIN TUMOR SYMPTOMS ●The symptoms of a benign brain tumor depend on the size of the tumor and where it is located in the brain. ●This type of tumor can prevent any area of the brain from functioning. ●The tumor worsens negative symptoms by pushing down on the brain which then gives the patient headaches, seizures, or worse.

MALIGNANT BRAIN TUMOR ●Malignant brain tumors are the type that is cancerous which is even more serious compared to having a benign brain tumor. ●As benign brain tumors are grade 1 or 2 of tumors well malignant brain tumors are way more serious because they are either grade 3 or 4. ●In a lot of cases the cancer spreads from one part of the body and then moves to the brain.

BRAIN TUMOR CAUSES ●Today no one know what actually causes brain tumors researchers are still finding out more about what is causing it. ●As I said it is known today about malignant brain tumors. ●A brain tumor can be caused by people who work in industries where there is chemicals that build up on brain tumors overtime.

BRAIN TUMOR EFFECTS ●Brain tumors affect people in a lot of areas especially the the area that is the most affected is the area on where the tumor is. ●Brain tumors can affect people’s speech and cognitive ability mostly. ●It also affects the way somewhat on how the person walks and somewhat moves around especially if the tumor was on the spinal cord.

BRAIN TUMOR DIAGNOSIS ●The way of how a brain tumor gets diagnosed is by MRI or either CT Scan. ●A neurological examination is also done to find out more if the patient actually has the tumor inside of them. ●PET Scans are somewhat the most helpful type of treatment is because they can detect easily of the cells are still growing.

BRAIN TUMOR TREATMENT ●Surgery is one major type of treatment for people with brain tumors. ●Another type of treatment for people is chemotherapy which involves drugs to fight off the cancer cells. ●Another type of treatment involves radation therapy which damages cancer cells from growing.

RADIATION TREATMENT ●The purpose of radiation therapy is for the tumor to shrink in size and the cancer cells to get damaged. ●This type of treatment is somewhat helpful but it can be dangerous when it takes into effect. ●Some people who have been through radiation therapy can feel a difference.

CHEMOTHERAPY DRUGS ●Today there are so many chemotherapy drugs that are used for helping people with brain tumors. ●They are many ways on how the drugs take into effect when it is delivered into the body. ●These type of drugs are used to stop tumors from duplicating and this will eventually lead to what is called cell death.
