3 World Population Trends 1)The world population is continuously growing larger. 2)There is a growing gap between less developed countries (LDCs) and more developed countries (MDCs): - In 1900: MDCs had 560 million people (34% of the world’s total population) LDCs had 1.1 billion people (66% of the world’s total population) - In 1990: MDCs had 1.2 billion people (23% of the world’s total population) LDCs had 4.1 billion people (77% of the world’s total population) - In 2050: it’s estimated that over 84% of the world’s people will live in less developed countries. 3)Urbanization: the growing movement of people from rural to urban areas : 5% of the world lived in urban areas : 50% of the world lived in urban areas : over 50% of the world lives in urban areas

Arithmetic & Physiologic Population Density Arithmetic Population Density: This is technically the correct calculation though it may give an inaccurate impression. Ex.
