Math Adoption

Last Adoption K-5 TERC, 6-8 CMP in 1997 – Standards have changed at least three times since then & State testing has changed three times K-5 Harcourt in – Standards have changed twice since then 6-8 Glencoe in – Standards have changed twice since then

Curricular Alignment Governing board, Superintendent, and Principals all sign a curricular agreement from ADE ensuring the teaching of Arizona’s state standards. Materials are aligned to AZCCRS. Save teacher time and ensures the use of research-based materials. Promote teacher collaboration between schools

Other Considerations Madison’s math proficiency rates are consistently lower in math than in reading. When combined with effective instruction, a newly adopted program will help enhance our students’ ability to compete on the national level.

Process February – Scope of Services sent to vendors March – committee review to select semifinalists March – presentations by semifinalist vendors to committee, narrowed down to two finalists May – each vendor provided PD July – 19 pilot teachers, grades 2, 4, 6, received materials August – October – public display September – second round of PD, teachers switched materials November – pilot teachers met to evaluate programs and select vendor for recommendation to the board
