applications Liquids Vapours Gases Slurries Corrosive substances The most common application/example of a globe valve is a standard water tap!

Advantages Efficient throttling – this reduces turbulence in the pipe line, thus giving a smother more controlled flow. Accurate flow control – it would be possible to work out how many radians the wheel would need to be turned to exert any flow rate.

Disadvantages There is high pressure drop through the valve More expensive than other valve types, due to complexity and number of components
