INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON MARINE POLLUTION CONTROL 8 th June 2006, Athens (GR) OIL SEA HARVESTER TST4-CT ww.osh-project.org AN INNOVATIVE ANSWER : THE HARVESTING CONCEPT The oil slick penetrates into the two chanels between the two sides and the central hull These chanels are well protected from the external rough weather The surface of the oil slick is calmed by : – the narrowness of the chanels – The oil viscosity The residual mono directional sea state into the chanels is reduced In that choppy sea it becomes possible to recover the oil slick with the proper tools fitted on two floatable tool carriages
