What is HPV? HPV are a group of viruses that infect the skin and mucous membranes. There are more than 100 different HPV types ;more than 30 of them can be transmitted sexually and 40 can effect the genital area. HPV is the most common STI around. It is so common that mostly all sexually active men and women get it at some point in their lives.

How is HPV spread? Is spread by having oral vaginal or anal sex with somebody who has the virus. It's usually spread through vaginal or anal sex.

Symptoms for males and females. Usually HPV doesn't have symptoms, but the most common symptom is warts on the genital area. The majority of HPV affected people don't know they have HPV because there are no signs or symptoms occour.

How can people test for HPV? People can test for HPV by having: Pap tests Colposcopy and HPV/DNA test.

What are the treatments for HPV? There are no treatments for HPV because there is no cure for it.

Prevention for HPV A vaccine is available to help women against high risk types of HPV. You get three shots of the vaccine in your lifetime. Men or boys could have the vaccine. At the age of 9 to 26. Or just don't have skin-to-skin contact. Don't have sex with someone.
