Hire Right Presenter: Priscilla Lee Software Engineer for the healthcare or IT industry February 21, 2015

Summary of Qualifications 10+ years of hands-on programming, systems analysis, systems design, testing and debugging, documentation writing and project coordination experience for private companies, small businesses and the federal government Chose to pursue Computer Science in college based on one idea: Computers can be used to make our lives better and humans need to adapt to technological changes Computer science is the only field in science, engineering and mathematics in which the number of women receiving bachelors degrees has decreased since 2002 Observations and knowledge about what makes computer and system users ambivalent about using them. Novice users would rather avoid them and defaults to "what works for them" instead

Skills,Abilities and Experience Fluency in many computer programming languages including HTML, XML, ECMA scripts, Pascal, Ada-Sil, C, SQL 7.0 and RDBMS database languages 60% of projects in Business Process Reengineering, Office Automation projects (cost-saving) 20% of projects in troubleshooting technical problems with remote systems users using Citrix, TeamViewer, VPN and implementing Change Control Request processes and Configuration Management for IT projects (cost-saving) 10% of projects in designing user interfaces for intranets, portals or SharePoint sites (SharePoint 2010) 10% of projects in technical documentation writing (user, functional, business requirements); various roles as Subject Matter Specialist (SME) Fluent in French and Korean; some translation and interpretation skills

Ideal Organization or Cultural Fit Collaborative workplace with fewer layers of management (not top heavy) Exposure to Knowledge Management resources, SharePoint sites and farms, ideas and innovation Ample opportunities given to employees to choose types of projects they want to work on - the more challenging, the better! Diversity is well represented Access to SME's

What are my Strengths, Weaknesses and Mindset Strengths: Doing careful research and thinking things through before suggesting an idea or presenting a solution to a problem. Trusting my intuition and judgment skills in absence of information. Expertise working as an IT Consultant. Detail-oriented and risk-taker. Believe that action speak louder than words. Weaknesses: Underestimate my talents and abilities Mindset: Listening to TED talk shows for inspiration, keeping my skills current with marketplace demands

Why I make the Right Hire! Growth mindset - Stanford University Psychologist, Carol Dweck has discovered after decades of research on achievement and success that it is possible to reprogram somebody with a fixed mindset to a growth one (What an inspiration!) Job titles and descriptions can limit a person's ability to grow My favorite color is red and according to the Briggs Myers personality test, I am an INTJ - I take it with a grain of salt! I believe that an acorn can turn into an oak tree in the right environment

Lessons Learned Divide and Conquer approach with big projects Many IT project fail during the planning phase I always look for the most efficient, cost-effective approach and practical solution There is always a more efficient way of doing something if you look for it The more I know, the more I realize thatth I don't know and that I am on a continual learning path Click HERE for my Resume (Confidential) - Please do not share it with your colleagues without my permission, especially, if you are a Recruiter Click HERE
