Michael T. O’Hair announces the first winner of a BHS Alumni Association scholarship, Kayla Clodfelter, who recently graduated from North Putnam H.S. She was represented by her parents, Chet & Leslie Clodfelter. Kayla could not attend the banquet due to a previous commitment to be at a camp. Also shown on far left is BHS Alumni Scholarship Board chair, Janet Houser O’Hair. Janet is also shown in the far right photo with Kayla when the award was presented in May, 2015 at the North Putnam H.S. awards day program.

Members of the BHS Alumni Scholarship Board are shown with the Scholarship Founders plaque that was unveiled at the banquet. It recognizes the 49 founding members of the scholarship endowment who gave $1000 or more prior to July 1, 2014. These donations along with many others from BHS alumni have allowed the fund at the Putnam County Community Foundation to grow to nearly $70,000 in just two years. The plaque will displayed in the Bainbridge Community Bldg. Board members shown with the plague are (L-R) Marilyn O’Hair Winters, Janet Austin Parker and Bobbi O’Hair Canada. In back are Janet Houser O’Hair, Chr. and Dick Thompson.

Bobbie O’Hair Canada (on left) and Donna Witty Lasley show off the original painting of the “The Pointers” that was used to create the representation of the BHS mascot. It was donated to the BHS Alumni Association by Jackie Steward McGaughey. The artist was Glen Leyenberger, originally of Bainbridge, who was commissioned to do the painting about 80 years ago.

Jeff Blue from the class of 1960 and his son Matt provided the entertainment at the banquet by singing and playing their guitars. They live in Columbus, Indiana with their families. Most of their songs came from the 1950’s & 1960’s much to the delight of the audience.

Recognized from the 80 & 75 year graduating classes were: standing Lucile Nichols Burkett, class of 1935 and Robert Scobee from class of 1940. Seated is Frances Hendrich Evans, from the class of 1940.
