An Adjective provides information about the… of a noun or pronoun. Size Shape ColorSoundFeelingTextureSmellNumber Condition

An adjective is a word that modifies, or describes, a noun or pronoun. Most adjectives come BEFORE the nouns they modify. Adjectives help you see, feel, taste, hear, and smell all the experiences you read about.

“Sound” Adjectives Listen to the sound and write a sentence using appropriate adjectives. Highlight your adjectives

Articles The most commonly used adjectives are the Articles a, an, & the. A and an are used with singular nouns. Use a before a consonant; use an before a vowel.

A Predicate Adjective is an adjective that follows a linking verb and modifies the subject of the sentence. The building is decorated. Some architects are skillful and creative. A volcanic eruption is violent.

How do I find Predicate Adjectives? 1. Determine whether the sentence’s verb is a linking verb. 2.If it is, look for an adjective that follows it and answers the question: Which one? What kind? How many?

Common Linking Verbs Forms of be: be, is, am, are, was, were, been, being Verbs that express condition: appear, become, feel, grow, look, seem, smell, sound, remain, taste

Predicate Adjectives Write a sentence using 2 of these “condition” linking verbs and a predicate adjective. appear, become, feel, grow, look, seem, smell, sound, remain, taste Example: The lava looks thick. Lava becomes hard when it cools.
