Ancient Greece Webquest

INTRODUCTION Greetings from Ancient Greece! We look forward to you learning about our country! Greece is a land with rich culture. We were the first place to create the Olympic games and our philosophers, doctors, and artists influenced many things that you see in the United States today.

TASK Since there are so many aspects to life in Ancient Greece, it would be exhausting trying to research each one. Instead, different groups will explore an assigned topic about the way ancient Greeks lived. After your group has researched their topic, you and your group members will create a posterboard with the important information you found. Each group will then give a presentation to the class in order to teach them about their specific topic.

PROCESS/RESOURCES Step One: With your group members, research your topic with the provided resources. The first resource is a website that you can navigate to find information about your topic. Click on the link to explore each website about life in Ancient Greece:

PROCESS continued….. Visit links and take notes about information you want to include on your posterboard. You need at least five separate facts on your posterboard which are to be handwritten.

RESOURCES FOR TOPICS: Agriculture/Food: Clothing: School: Olympic Games: Theatre: Roles of Men and Women: Houses/Home Life: Religion/Gods and Goddesses:

RESOURCES FOR TOPICS Athens: Sparta: Corinth: Megara: Argos:

PROCESS cont. Step 2: When we return back to the classroom, compare your notes with your group members and decide what information you would like to include on your posterboard, as well as pictures and the design. Pictures can be drawn or printed out (ask me for permission before printing). Step 3: Each group will present their posterboard in class about their assigned topic of life in Ancient Greece. Every group member must have a speaking role during the presentation.

EVALUATION This project is worth 40 points. The rubric is attached below. You will be graded on the following categories: 1. Teamwork during the design and presentation of the posterboard 2. Relevancy of facts- Facts on your posterboard must be relevant to your assigned topic 3. Number of facts- Your posterboard must have a minimum of 5 facts displayed 4. Creativity- Your posterboard must have lots of color and have pictures, either printed or hand-drawn, that go along with your assigned topic Good luck! Let's get started!
