The cytology of the joint fluid revealed marked neutrophilic inflammation without organisms seen; however, the kitten had been on antibiotics from the breeder Antibiotic therapy was continued but no response was noted; because of the possibility of mycoplasma infection the antibiotic therapy was changed to treat mycoplasma and the patient responded well
