Yardstick Ruler that is 36 inches long—used for measuring patterns and fabrics on a flat surface and for checking hemlines

Seam gauge Small metal ruler that has a side marker that can be set to gauge specific measurements such as the width of a seam or hem

Straight pins Used to anchor the pattern to the fabric and hold layers of fabric together for sewing

Pincushion Keeps pins and needles handy

Thimble Used to push needle thru fabric when hand sewing

Hand sewing needles Used for hand sewing

Machine needles Place in sewing machine
