Assessment Is... An instructional tool that promotes learning Information collected about the progress of student learning gathered using various strategies A process rather than a single event Helps identify breakdowns in student learning Assists us to improve our teaching

Evaluation is... Using the evidence compiled during the assessment process to make a judgment on a student’s overall level of achievement or performance. “The student’s level of achievement was commendable.” “The student achieved a B in the course.”
