◊ Learning the Code of the Web ◊ Learn how to put the pieces together to create attractive, functional websites ◊ Students use XHTML to create web structure, and Cascade Style Sheets add style ◊ Students will explore free Web 2.0 online software to produce websites with images and media ◊ This class provides students with the foundation to web design Recommended: CAS 133 or excellent file management and word processing experience; placement into RD 115 or WR 115

◊ Learn how to create graphics for your website using Adobe Fireworks CS5 ◊ Introduces basic drawing and photo manipulation tools ◊ Learn the differences between.gif,.jpg, and.png graphic files ◊ An essential graphics course for any web designer!

◊ Creating and editing animated movies using basic features of Adobe Flash ◊ Introduces the Flash interface, drawing tools, symbols and management of library assets ◊ Produce shape and motion tweening ◊ Introduction to basic ActionScripting Recommended: CAS 133 or equivalent file management and word processing experience, placement into RD 115 or WR 115.

◊ Implement effective techniques for increasing and maintaining high search engine rankings ◊ Integrate techniques for optimizing the searchability ◊ Create a tailored Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy for your web site ◊ Utilize online resources to manage and evaluate your SEO plan Recommended: CAS 111D, CAS 111E, CAS 111F or CAS 206 or equivalent.

◊ Learn how to create a dynamic website using Content Management System (CMS) software called JOOMLA! ◊ Create customized templates for your Joomla site ◊ Organize your dynamic website using components, modules, and plug-ins ◊ By the end of the term, you will have a fully- functioning Joomla website, live on the web Recommended: CAS 111D, CAS206, or CAS215

◊ Modify and enhance photographs ◊ Create and modify text and shapes ◊ Create composites ◊ Optimize graphics for web pages ◊ Create a web page portfolio of projects Prerequisite: CAS 111D or CAS 111E or CAS 206 or permission of the instructor.

◊ Create professional web sites using the intermediate/advanced features of Dreamweaver ◊ Learn more complex CSS & XHTML ◊ Introduction to Jquery & Behaviors ◊ Incorporate an example of streaming audio or streaming video into a web page ◊ Review network, web server and client/server terminology as they relate to web sites ◊ Discuss internet-related issues including security, legal concerns, and E- commerce.

◊ Hybrid classes are indicated on the PCC schedule by “CL/WEB” and the footnote indicating how much time outside of class will be necessary for completing assignments. ◊ Like distance learning, CL/WEB uses Internet for some class assignments; and automated quizzes are examples. ◊ Usually, there is some time in the classroom with an instructor and some independent time to complete work at home or in the computer resource center (CRC). ◊ CL WEB time does not replace other assigned homework or assignments; it replaces additional hours that, in traditional courses, would be in the classroom. ◊ Access to Internet (or time to spend in the CRC), discipline and motivation are necessary to be successful!
