Surgeon Surgeons are physicians who operate to repair injuries, correct deformities, prevent diseases, and generally improve the health of patients. Hourly: $80 Yearly: $166,400

Education Formal education and training requirements for a surgeon —4 years of undergraduate school, 4 years of medical school, and 3 to 8 years of internship and residency, depending on the specialty selected.

Attire Scrubs worn in surgery are almost always colored solid light green, light blue or a light green-blue shade, although some medical centers have switched to pink as a theft deterrent.

Hours Many physicians and surgeons work long, irregular hours.
