Ways to Prevent BURNS Be aware of hot equipment/liquids ALWAYS wear oven mits Do not crowd the oven/stove! Be careful!

CUTS

Ways to Prevent CUTS Hold knife with firm grip Keep tips of fingers curled when cutting Cut away from your hand Do not play around with anything sharp!

FALLS

Ways to Prevent FALLS If something spills, clean it right away. Watch where you are walking. Keep drawers and cabinets closed. Do not run or play around in the kitchen!

BACTERIA

Ways to Prevent BACTERIA Properly clean your hands. Properly clean anything that touches the food. (Ex. Dishware, utensils, kitchen appliances) Cook food properly. (Ex. Meat)

1. WASH HANDS WITH HOT, SOAPY WATER.

2. SCRUB HANDS, FROM WRIST TO FINGER TIPS, FOR 20 SECONDS.

3. RINSE WITH HOT WATER.

4. DRY WITH A PAPER TOWEL.

Ways to Prevent FIRES Don’t leave kitchen unattended while cooking Always set the timer Don’t wear loose clothing Keep things that can catch fire away from cooking area Unplug appliances when not using
