Mrs. Trotter’s Science Class Vian Middle School

The regulation of steady- life maintaining conditions inside of an organism A balance system Ex- regulation of breathing or heartbeat

Basic unit is called a neuron

Dendrites- receive impulses from other neurons and send them to the cell body Axons- carry impulses away from the cell body. They have a branching end that allows the impulses to move to many other muscles, neurons, or glands

A small space between neurons Impulses move from neuron to neuron by a chemical release across the synapse

Brain Spinal chord

made up of all the nerves outside the CNS It connects the brain and spinal chord to other body parts

Coordinates all of your activities Three major parts the brain stem (connects brain to spinal chord) cerebrum (largest part) cerebellum (coordinates muscle movements)

Do vocabulary terms #1-15 Do Key Terms Vocabulary Worksheet Staple both sheets together and turn into the tray when completed
