Line of Symmetry A line of symmetry divides a figure/shape into two mirror-image halves.

In partners, what letters in the alphabet can you find that have a line of symmetry? Use your whiteboards to help you

Task… In your maths book, find examples of symmetry around the classroom. 1) Draw the object or shape that you find. 2) Show the different lines of symmetry within the shape 3) Explain HOW you know it is symmetrical 4) Find one example of a shape that is asymmetrical, draw the shape and explain how you know it is asymmetrical. Year 5’s: Find at least four shapes with one line of symmetry, and two with more than on. Year 6’s: Find at least five shapes with one line of symmetry and three with more than one.
