Global Warming Green House Effect Green House Gas Global Warming The greenhouse effect is a warming of Earth's surface and the air above it. It is caused by gases in the atmosphere, in the air, that trap energy from the sun. These heat trapping gases are known as greenhouse gases. The most common greenhouse gases are water vapor, carbon dioxide, and methane. The Greenhouse effect has a purpose because without it, the earth be too cold for life to survive. Global Warming Global Warming Facts Scientists have concluded that humans have caused all, or most, of what is happening on earth. However, we have the power to slow things down. Here are some examples of how global warming is affecting the climate and humans. 

Global Warming: Climate Arctic ice is rapidly disappearing and the region may have it's ice free summer in 2040. Glaciers and mountain snows are rapidly melting. For example, Montana's Glacier National Park has only 27 glaciers now, versus 150 in 1910. An upsurge in the amount of extreme weather events, such as wildfires, heat waves and strong tropical storms, is also attributed in part to climate

Global Warming: Humans Industrialization, deforestation and pollution have greatly increased atmospheric concentrations. Humans are pouring carbon dioxide into the atmosphere much faster than plants and oceans can absorb it.

Global Warming This is an incredible video of a Canadian girl who spoke to the United Nations and left them completely silent and speechless for six minutes. Her name is Severn Cullis-Suzuki, and her speech was given at a U.N. assembly in Brazil when she was twelve years old. She had raised all the money to travel to the delegation, five thousand miles from her home, herself. The video has since become a viral hit, popularly known as "The Girl Who Silenced the World for 6 Minutes". In 1993, she was honored in the United Nations Environment Program's Global 500 Roll of Honor. In 1993, Doubleday published her book Tell the World , a 32-page book of environmental steps for families.
