MOTIVATING EMPLOYEES Developing Management Skills 059

Motivating Employees  Employees can make or break your business.  So, how do you keep them motivated to do their very best?

How do we empower employees? Empowerment occurs when individuals in an organization are given autonomy, authority, trust, and encouragement to accomplish a task. Empowerment is designed to unshackle the worker and to make a job the worker's responsibility.

Examples of ways to motivate employees…  Reward System - positive reinforcement  Redesigning jobs-job rotation, more responsibility  Creating flexibility – telecommuniting, job sharing  Treat people with respect  Recognition  Incentive program

Activity  List ways that your training sponsor motivates its employees  List ways that you wish your employer would motivate its employees Part 1Part 2

Project  You and your partner have been hired by the K9 Korner to devise a motivational plan for its employees. Since winter break employees have not been working their schedule. In addition when they do work they are not productive.  You must come up with 3 different motivations in your plan. You need to be specific and realistic.  You will present your plan in a PowerPoint presentation next class.
