Statistics Trends of population ageing in Europe Now and future Age structure of population in Finland Now and future

Health promotion that support ageing Health Promotion is the development of individual, group, institutional, community and systemic strategies to improve health knowledge, attitudes, skills and behaviour. Health promotion focuses on prevention. Health programmes help support social contexts for instance daily activities. Proper nutrition is important factor in health promotion ensuring the aging population have proper diet. Holistic approach towards health promotion is important i.e. taking care of the individual, spiritually, emotionally, financially, physically. A setting for elderly population should be set up e.g. nursing homes & recreational facilities

Health care and rehabilitation Palliative care is an important public health issue in an increasing number of older people with complex needs. Palliative care focuses on improving quality of life for old people because they suffer due to lack of access to this care. Patterns of disease in the last years of life are changing with more people dying from cardiovascular diseases,diabetes, cancer and dementia.

Social Networking and Technological Aids –Social networking and support should be organized for elderly people –Technology plays a key role in helping the elderly to improve their quality of life
