Stocks – a security that is an investment in a company and represents a claim for part of that companies public assets. To buy stock, company must be Publically Traded

Investments Public Traded Company – Company that has shares of stock available for purchase by investors on the open stock market Shareholder, Stockholder – someone owning stock in the public traded company
