How Our Body Eliminates Cellular Wastes. Excretion When proteins are broken down into amino acids, during digestion, they travel to the liver to be stored.
 Excretion  The process by which the body collects and removes wastes.  Includes the following organs: › Liver, Lungs, skin, and kidneys.

Excretory System

Function?

Function removal of waste from the body Blood enters the kidney and is cleaned and filtered, then the urea is sent to the bladder to be removed from the body via the urethra.

What waste? Urea (a toxic substance) Nitrogen containing waste made by the body when we digest protein. excess salts And excess water This forms Urine

What does the filtering? Nephrons = the blood-filtering units of the kidney Nephron

Where does the waste go? URINE REMOVAL FROM THE BODY: Kidneys  Ureter Bladder  Urethra released from body

What if your kidneys don’t work? Dialysis = Blood is removed from the body, cleaned by a machine & then returned to the body

The Excretory System: Function: The basic function of the human excretory system is the removal of waste from the cells and body. The skin excretes excess water and salts in the form of sweat. The lungs excrete carbon dioxide. The kidneys play a major role in excretion and remove waste products from the blood, maintain blood pH and regulate the water content of the blood and, therefore homeostasis. So, the major Organs are: - Kidneys - Skin - Bladder - Lungs
