The Nile river By: Haeun Cho

The river Nile is the longest river in the world. It is 4160miles(6670km) long. It flows through Egypt, Burundi, Sudan, Ethiopia and Uganda. Egypt Sudan Burundi Ethiopia Uganda

The largest source of this river is Lake Victoria. It eventually flows from Burundi and finally drains to Mediterranean sea. It is located in Egypt. It will look like a long human’s digestive on a map.

The estuary of the river is located in Egypt. If you see it on a map, it will look like a large interesting human digestive system. It’s huge blue and long.

There are two main tributaries in river Nile; the Blue Nile and the White Nile. Blue Nile is located in Ethiopia and Sudan. White Nile is located in Uganda and Sudan. It is interesting because those two make the famous river Nile. Located in Ugand a and Sudan. Located in Ethiopia and Sudan.

This river is different from the other rivers in Britain and rivers in the world since it is long. And it will help people living in desert because it is a dry country so there won’t be much water to live with. And if it is long, more people can use the water.

Key features of this river is that it is over 4000 miles long. And the great bend is one of the most unexpected feature of the Nile. The Nile flows to north, but here in the heart of Sahara it turns southwest and flows a way from the sea for 300km before getting on to it’s own track again.

The major dams are Rosaries, Sennar, Aswan and Owen Falls dam. And some bridges that crosses river Nile is Luxur, Suhag, 1 st Rind Road, Abbes bridge. The main waterfalls are Murchison and Blue Nile falls. I think every thing is important because dams prevents flooding, bridges help us go through the river which may be harsh to cross and waterfalls may be a good tourism.

The river provides food, water, transportations and fertilizer to people. It affects people’s daily life by providing what they need to live. It is similar as how some of other rivers are used like growing crops and for drinking and for energy etc. And all the rivers around the world is used very similarly. River provides :

The major cities in river Nile are Cairo, Alexandria, Tanis, Giza, Port said, Hurghada, Karnak, Aswan, Gondokoro, Luxory and Hebes. The two important cities are Cairo and Alexandria. Cairo is most important and capital city of Egypt. Since there are many pyramids surrounding it, it’s also known as ‘city of death’. Alexandria was founded by Alexander the great and was capital of Roman Egypt. Cairo – city of death Alexandria – capital of roman Egypt.

The pollution of the river Nile is getting worse every year. It is caused by numerous things such as industry, new- construction etc. Pollutions may give people disease such as Asthma, COPD, and so on. And it absolutely destroys animal habitats- they may die because of us. The habitats are destroyed by cutting the forest, polluting the air/water etc. =

The unique things about this river is that it’s the longest river in the world. And that this river flows entirely through desert to the sea. It’s different from the other rivers because no other rivers are the longest in the world. And another is that it is very surprising that a river can go through a desert to an ocean without evaporating.
