John 16:5-15

 Because God has chosen Christians and made us different from other people  Because we follow Jesus who shows up the world’s sin  Because the Holy Spirit makes us witnesses about Jesus, a message the world doesn’t want to hear

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Jesus John 14:6 “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.” Jesus John 16:13

 He will show the world that it is wrong  about sin  about righteousness  about judgement

 This isn’t talking about sins in general  The world is guilty of one primary sin - unbelief  it doesn’t believe in Jesus  it doesn’t believe he is God  it doesn’t acknowledge its need of him  What do you believe about Jesus?

 the unbelievers in Jerusalem  considered themselves godly  regarded Jesus as a sinner making false claims of being God  The Holy Spirit’s work in unbelievers is opposite  convincing them of their ungodliness  convincing them that Jesus is perfect and sinless and truly God  The primary evidence is the resurrection

“If Jesus was actually resurrected as it says in the Bible, then it’s all true, regardless of what one thinks of Christians and their behaviour. If he didn’t, then it’s all nonsense, and Christianity is a delusion.”

“If Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.” The Apostle Paul 1 Corinthians 15:14

What is your answer to the question

 He will show the world that it is wrong  about sin  about righteousness  about judgement

 Most people have got it wrong about judgement  They refuse to believe in life beyond death  They have false hope in their own goodness  They have a false view of God’s justice  They have been given false assurance  Satan the prince of this world  Is still deceiving many with his lies  through the cross he has already been judged  God’s judgement of sinners is being revealed

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Paul’s Letter to the Romans 1:18-21

 Through God’s word  read  preached  Through his servants in whom he lives  Through his providences  care, guardianship and control of God  Through supernatural intervention  Paul’s experiences  Dreams & visions

 He doesn’t come to convict or judge - Rom 8:1  He guides us into all truth  He has revealed the rest of God’s word  He has revealed things which are still to come  He lives in us and works in us  Giving gifts for serving the body - 1 Cor 12  Producing holiness and fruit in our lives – Gal 5  He brings glory to Jesus by making God known to us

 Do you care about truth?  Do you know the truth about  Who Jesus is?  Your righteousness vs. Jesus righteousness?  How God will judge you?  If God’s Holy Spirit is at work in you:  What is he teaching you?  Are you seeking and obeying his direction?  Are you speaking his truth to the world around?  Is he bringing glory to Jesus Christ through you?
