The Story When two great Australia Riesling producers joined forces – it was clear that this would be no ordinary association. This alliance offers a forum in which both winemakers can share experiences, debate & discuss, which ultimately offers an irresistible opportunity to create a truly unique wine. “I’m convinced that we have been able to achieve more in quality terms by working together and sharing our knowledge. The chance to contribute to the reputation of the region and the variety is very exciting and the fact that Robert and I share a passion for Riesling is, for me, what makes this project so special.” Jeffery Grosset The two parties agreed on the name, mesh for all the images the word evoked. “This single word represents so much philosophy behind the wine – the weaving together of ideas & the combining of skills and knowledge”. Robert Hill Smith Outstanding quality with a unique identity Elevate the status of both Australian Riesling and the renowned wine growing region of South Australia’s Eden Valley.
Our meshage mesh is a philosophy and the wine is about shared passion – it is our meshage in a bottle – Two subtly different winemaking methods achieve the desired wine of strong citrus flavour and slight mineral profile, typical of the Eden Valley region, yes its Dry Australian Riesling!! The grapes are pedantically divided by selectively hand picking alternate rows into yellow and blue buckets on the same day. The two separate parcels are then crushed at different locations and the 6 finished components are jointly assessed post vintage amid lively debate which determines the final blend – a powerful expression of variety and region.
Sell with confidence - Get out there, live the passion and put a taste on everyone’s lips - it’s a dry Aussie Riesling which is crisp and powerful with its generous, intense citrus fruit flavours. The wine is clean and dry with refreshing slately acidity which offers great accompaniment to any spicy Thai dish. 90 Points - "The 2007 Riesling is medium straw-colored with an alluring bouquet of minerals, honeysuckle, spring flowers, and lemon-lime. This leads to a medium-bodied wine made in a racy style with crisp, uplifting acidity, intense flavors, and a lengthy finish. It can be enjoyed now but will evolve for 6-8 years." Robert M. Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate (USA), 31 October Points - "The joint venture by Jeffrey Grossett and Robert Hill-Smith picks grapes from three vineyards, separates them, then lets each winemaker do their thing before a final blending. The year shows a richer, more generous style to begin with florals and spice, yet a natural lemon and lime acidity for sure provenance." Tony Love, The Advertiser - Food & Wine (Aus), 19 September 2007
