It is more important for leaders to uphold the basic values of unit loyalty, personal responsibility, and selfless service to set the example. Only followers must uphold the basic values of unit loyalty, personal responsibility, and selfless service since leaders can do what they want. Click to see the correct answer

Review topic and create graphic organizer: Preparatory commands and commands of execution Supplementary commands and combined commands Ten basic rules used when giving commands One or more of the following: Directives, Voice Control, Distinctiveness, Inflection, Cadence, Snap

Share your Thinking Map® with the class.

Think about how you might demonstrate drill commands Think about how you might demonstrate drill commands. Now what can you do with this new information you have learned?

Cadet Richards always seems to complain about having a sore throat Cadet Richards always seems to complain about having a sore throat. During drill practice, you can hear him lead his squad from all the way across the parade field. He enunciates well and his inflection is correct, but sometimes his voice is so loud, that your squad reacts to his commands. What should you tell him about his command voice? Tell him that you are impressed with the volume and projection of his voice, and that he is loud enough to lead a battalion. Commend him that people can always identify his squad when they perform drill and ceremonies because his sore throat makes his voice scratchy and distinct. Don't tell him anything because he'll figure out that he's too loud when he loses his voice. Tell him that commands need only to be loud enough for his unit to hear and if he practices proper voice control, then his sore throat may go away. Click to see the correct answer

T or F: The purpose of the inflection of the command voice at the end of the command of execution is to draw an immediate, sharp, and precise movement (or snap) to the command.   True False Click to see the correct answer

Keep Cadets in their same groups Practice in your groups: Company Attention Forward March Right Face Dress Right Dress Rear March Right Step March Mark Time March Platoon Halt Column Left Fall in Cover Keep Cadets in their same groups Demonstrate Commands to class

Reflection: Which types of commands did you prefer to give and why? Why is the way you deliver the command important?

Think about how commands and command voice play a role in your daily lives What else can you do with what you have learned today?

Rotate through leadership positions to practice and demonstrate preparatory commands, commands of execution, supplementary commands, and combined commands. Divide Cadets into squad formation
