Bullying

What is Bullying? Seriously antisocial behavior in the form of aggression toward another person Types: Verbal Social Physical Cyber

Who is Involved? There are the bullies and the victims Oftentimes bullying is associated with children Bullying happens at every age Bullies and victims are of all races, sexes, creeds, and backgrounds Essentially, anyone could be involved somehow

Where Does this Occur? It can happen in many places such as: School Work Computer (cyber bullying) Restaurants Cinemas Home Unfortunately, bullying can happen anywhere

Why Does this Happen? There are many reasons bullying may occur such as: It reflects societal (or any other influential sphere’s) attitudes Students aren’t being educated Aggressive students take leadership roles and use them to lash out Groupthink

How Should we Address this Issue? There are many ways to help the fight against bullying: Train children that bullying is wrong Train children while young to recognize warning signs Provide services to address the psychological needs of bullies and bullying victims Have more adult accountability (especially from parents)

Questions/Comments Can you think of an example of how someone might be bullied in school? In the workplace? What practical ways should we go about addressing bullying as a society? Who is most at fault? Anyone? Are all bullies just bad people?
