Climate and Geography The U.A.E is located in Southern Asia, otherwise know as the Middle East The climate in the U.A.E is characterized by hot summers and warm winters, with summer temperatures reaching over 40 degrees centigrade The U.A.E is located on the Persian gulf and is surrounded by water which is very important for trade. The country is very rich in oil resources.
History Of United Arab Emirates The United Arab Emirates was formed by a group of organized Arabian Peninsula Sheikhdoms along the southern coast of the Persian gulf and gulf of Oman.
British Control During the 16 th century, the region was under British influence. The U.A.E was know as the pirate coast because the shipping industry was raided, despite having British and Arab defences. In 1819, the natives signed a treaty with the British to provide defence against pirates on the gulf of Oman.
British Treaties In the 17 th century, British expeditions to protect the Indian trade led to campaigns against the pirates and their harbors along the coast. In 1853, the British signed a new treaty with the native Arabs which outlined and documented a truce to stop fighting.
The Impact of Oil Oil Was first discovered in the United Arab Emirates during the 1950s In the early 1960s, the first oil company was established. The ruler of Dubai, Zayed Bin Al Nahayan, started a massive construction project to build schools and hospitals to help improve the quality of life using his new found wealth.
Independence The United Arab Emirates became an independent country in 1971 The British government gave up control of the land because it was not affordable for them to govern the United Arab Emirates
Leadership and Historical Roots The first Prime Minster of the United Arab Emirates was Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan In 1968, the British Prime Minster announced a withdrawal of the treaties to defend the Gulf In 1971, the British Prime Minster terminated all of the treaties that had been made with the United Arab Emirates
Attractions in Dubai The Palm Islands are a man made island in Dubai. Ski Dubai is an indoor winter recreation area. The Dubai Mall is the largest mall in the world! Burj Khalifa is the tallest tower in world and contains a hotel and residential complex
Attractions in Dubai - continued A Desert Safari enables travelers to traverse the desert by jeep during the day and then experience the beautiful sunset at night. The Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo is one of the most diverse aquariums in the world.
