The Most Important Ideas from September NPO How to explain properties of exponents How to address different learning styles with math problems (Questions with Style) Fraction War game Probes Technology, online resources for research, Live Binders KyCAS (Common Core Standards) 2

One Sentence Used to Tell a Friend About What We Learned in September I have learned how to prove why properties of exponents work and how to analyze the new math standards. I learned several new ways to use formative assessment and more ways to use learning styles in my class. 3

Before today I thought addressing different learning styles was nearly impossible. Now I know of different methods to apply in mathematics in order to address all four styles. Before today I thought the new math standards addressed more numeracy skills. Now I think I’m not so sure—I need to look more in depth at all the standards. 4

What have you tried since last month? Take 90 seconds to recall what new strategies, games, activities you have tried since our last meeting. Jot them down. What went well with the new strategy, game, or activity? What didn’t go so well? What did you learn? 5
