Vocabulary Urban- city; heavily populated areas Rural- country side ; less populated areas Densely populated- many people in an area Marine climate- warm, humid Arable- land good for farming Landlocked- completely surrounded by land; does not border a body of water

Germany’s Location North-central Europe on European Plain Densely populated 85% of population live in urban areas Land-3 zones 1. Alps is in southern Germany 2. Hilly – mountainous (middle) 3. Plains (north) 4. Rhine River starts in the Alps

Germany’s Natural Resources Many Natural Resources Mining: iron, coal, potash Nuclear Fuel: Uranium Nickel, natural gas, copper Renewable Resources timber Arable Land- 1/3 (used for crops)

Italy

Italy’s Location Southern Europe Peninsula Northern border-Alps Shares a border with France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia About ½ the people in Italy live in the most northern 1/3 of the country.
