Facts Poseidon pronounced is one of the twelve Olympian deities of the pantheon in Greek mythology. His main domain is the ocean, and he is called the "God of the Sea”. Poseidon is called the tamer of horses. He has 5 symbols trident, dolphin, fish, horse, and bull.

Birth of Poseidon Poseidon was a son of Cronus and Rhea Poseidon has 7 kids Theseus, Triton, Polyphemus, Belus, Agenor, Neleus, Atlas. Poseidon was the brother of Zeus Hades, Demeter, Hestia, Hera,.

Roman name of Poseidon Poseidon roman name is Neptune His wedding with Amphitrite is often presented as a triumphal procession. His Roman counterpart was Neptune. The horses and the dolphin are sacred to him.

Poseidon controls the sea rivers, floods, droughts, and earthquakes He is the creator of horses He’s know for earth shaker Poseidon rules one of the 3 realms of the universe as king of the sea and the waters. In classical artwork, he was depicted as a mature man of sturdy build with an often luxuriant beard, and holding a trident.

After the overthrow of their Father Cronus he drew lots with Zeus and Hades, another brother, for shares of the world. His prize was to become lord of the sea. He was widely worshiped by seamen. He married Amphitrite, a granddaughter of the Titan Oceanus. At one point he desired Demeter. To put him off Demeter asked him to make the most beautiful animal that the world had ever seen. So to impress her Poseidon created the first horse. In some accounts his first attempts were unsuccessful and created a varity of other animals in his quest. By the time the horse was created his passion for Demeter had cooled.
