Hunting in NC There are many types of hunting in NC.

Rabbit hunting Rabbit Season comes in around NOV. and goes all the way to around February. When you Rabbit hunt you usually use beagles Which is basically a smaller version of the Running Walker which is used for Deer and Fox. You would typicall use a shotgun or 22. caliber rifle. In this Picture we bagged a cottontail Rabbit.

Deer hunting Deer Hunting is one of the most popular types of hunting here in Craven County and in most of the United States. You can hunt deer with dogs or you can sit in "deer stands" which are a ladder at the base of a tree leading up to a seat in the base of the tree or leaning up against the side. Dog hunting which is very fun, is an older sport which is only allowed in some counties here in NC. Running Walkers are used for Jumping the deer, but some people use Red Bones, Blueticks, and beagles. When deer hunting you would typically use a shotgun or rifle. In this I bagged a "cowhorn" or spike that I took with my rifle. Also in the dog box, those are our Hunting Dogs, and you see some of the bullets we use.

Duck Hunting Duck hunting in NC is also very popular. There are many different species here in North Carolina and in Craven County alone there is the Wood Duck, Mallard, Teal, Pintail, and the Gadwall... When you are duck hunting you typically use shotguns with steel shot. In this picture My dad, my friend, my little brother and I shot 21 Ruddy ducks.

Turkey Hunting Turkey Hunting (which is my favorite type of hunting) in Craven county is only in the spring. When you go turkey hunting you usually use a shotgun. You also use decoys and calls to attract a male bird, which in Craven County is the only type of bird you are allowed to take. But sometimes "hens" which are female turkeys grow beards. In this picture I bagged a Trophy "Gobbler" or Tom as they are referred to up north.
