AUTOMATIC INDUSTRIAL STATION FOR VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH INTELLIGENT VALVES 30/09/03

Siemens Schrader (GB) Each valve contains: A reception antenna + A transmitting antenna

- Schrader (GB) - Siemens, Beru (Germany) - TRW (USA) - Pacific valve (Asia) - Johnson control (SAGEM) Details on the valves available: -Up until mid-2003: after having been awoken, the valve transmits its identifier and the pressure of the tyre. -Next evolution: depending on a specific set of data which it will receive, each valve will be programmable (the valves will have several modes of operation: for example, it will be possible to return the valves to a sleep mode (to extend battery life), they will allow the access to other technical information Battery autonomy, valve production date, humidity, acceleration, temperature…. Note: as a general rule, to operate, the valve must be pressurised ( > 500 mbar)

Antenne Vehicle detection Phase 1 ATEQ Factory network x Vehicle identification

Antenne Awaking the front right valve Phase 2 ATEQ Factory network x 60 cm Transmitting antenna (125 KHz): Continuous signal

Antenne The valve sends a signal Phase 3 ATEQ Factory network x 60 cm Reception antenna (433 MHz (Europe) or 315 MHz (US)) Signal: Valve identifier code Pressure, Temperature, acceleration, Battery charge info…

Antenne Detection of the front left valve Phase 4 ATEQ Factory network x

Antenne Other technical configuration (event of vertical movement) ATEQ Facotry network x Antenne 4 transmitters / 4 receptors Antenne

Each valve has its own unique identifier code => the driver knows which tyre is concerned with an eventual low pressure problem. This identifier code is also used to avoid an interference between two 2 cars stationed next to each other. Installed on the production line, the station transmits each identifier code to the vehicle computer through the factory network. Without that, the vehicle dashboard would display and “error”, as no valve would be recognized by the vehicle computer.

Activation frequency: 125 KHz. l Range: adjustable from 20 cm to 1 m. l Cycle time: generally 50 sec. * l Field of emissions: about 250 A/m. l AM/FM reception: 433 and/or 315 MHz (1 single installation = two frequencies) l Production line speed: up to 6m/min* SSPP Station: Technical data Antennas/Network *depending on the valve type

C540 or PC and/or PLC interface (History, traceability of errors, parameters-process, maintenance menu, user friendly interface, control of the power electronics) l Vehicle presence detectors l Air conditioned PLC workstation (dim.: 2000 x 1200 x 500 mm) Connected to the factory network l 2 sets of antenna (1 set on each side of the vehicle) l Each set contains: - one transmitting antenna - one reception antenna - The power electronics Technical data for the station x
