Understanding the Puritan Mindset Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God Voicethread project Photo Source: Wikipedia

What makes Jonathan Edwards’ sermon memorable? Why does it still move us today? How does his sermon help us understand the Puritans? Let’s discuss the most famous sermon in American history!

voicethread.com Create a voicethread to present your group’s analysis of assigned excerpt and to discuss your ideas with others.voicethread

Your task is to share your analysis of your portion of the sermon: –What strong words (diction) does Edwards use? –What meaning do those words create (connotation)? –What is the tone of the passage?

–What similes and/or metaphors does Edwards use? –What meaning do they add to the text?

Voicethread allows you to use words, images, voice narration and doodling to share your analysis. –Create hand-drawn illustrations of the similes/metaphors and any other imagery in the sentence. –Create other docs (video, PowerPoint slides, images) to show strong words and tone. Don’t forget you can doodle (perhaps underline or circle strong words). –Use voice narration for in-depth explanations.
