Leadership STRUCTURE OF AWARD The Award exists at SCQF 5 & 6 (Int 2 & Higher) and coinsists of the following Units: Leadership: An Introduction 20 hrs Leadership in Practice 40 hrs

Features of the Leadership Award  Designed to be flexible  Capture smaller chunks of learning  No external assessment  Opportunities to recognise wider achievement  Suitable for a range of learners  Could be delivered in a number of different settings  Could be delivered through collaboration with partners

Leadership: A Introduction Learners will carry out research to enable them to find out about leadership (styles, qualities skills etc.). They will gather information to enable them to produce a report on leadership They will draw conclusions, based on their report and by comparing different leaders, on the skills and qualities found in effective leaders. They will carry out a self evaluation of their own potential for leadership. Leadership: An Introduction Research Gather Information Draw conclusions Produce a report Carry out a self evaluation Knowledge of leadership skills, styles, qualities etc. Knowledge of self in relation to leadership

Leadership in Practice Learners will take a leading role for an activity. They will prepare to carry out the activity by thinking about all of the factors involved (people, resources, risks etc.) and sharing this with others. They will carry out the activity. Whilst carrying out the activity they will monitor progress and make any changes necessary. They will work appropriately with others. They will review the success of their activity and draw conclusions about what they have learned about themselves as a leader. Leadership in Practice A leadership role for an activity Problem solving Identifying roles Working with others Monitoring Reviewing Knowledge of self as a leader.

The Leadership Award can help learners to ….  develop skills for learning, life and work  develop knowledge of self as a leader  manage change  make progress towards the four capacities

Differentiation PrincipleSCQF level 5SCQF level 6 Support: learners will work with minimum support — tutors will answer specific questions to enable learners to progress. Non-directive supervision — the learners will take responsibility for their own learning but the tutor may explain and interpret if requested. Level of participation: learners will negotiate — put forward suggestions and ideas and agree a way forward take responsibility for a range of tasks and, where appropriate, for the work of others. Level of understanding: learners will show knowledge of a range of simple ideas and facts factual and theoretical knowledge of a range of ideas and practices Level of maturity displayed: candidate will use some abstract constructs, eg draw conclusions draw conclusions and suggest solutions.
