Project P13037 Notification Alert System Mark Calem – Electrical Engineering Jared Lytle – Electrical Engineering Muhammad Ibrahim – Electrical Engineering Professor George Slack – Guide/ Mechanical Resource Professor Gary Behm –Customer

Introduction 4 th iteration of Notification Alert System for hard of hearing users. Focused on reducing cost while optimizing performance ◦Improve lighting functionality ◦Switched to the MSP430 to reduce cost ◦ Added functionality as a tablet stand

Objectives To create a notification alert system ◦Wake user from sleep  Bed shaker  High intensity LEDs ◦Notify user of received texts, s, phone calls  Color coded LEDs

Customer Needs Bluetooth Communication to Android Devices Alarm will be set from Android APP Visual and Physical stimulus to wake user Alarm will work when Bluetooth Communication is lost Dock will contain a snooze and off button Indicators for calls/texts/ s

Mobile Application

COST per 500 units  22V Circuit - $3.11  3.3V Circuit – $1.26  Bluetooth Module $30  PCB Board - $12  Miscellaneous components –  Case – $6  Total = $80.27

Results  3.3V Circuit works as designed  22V PCB Redone  Performance testing to be completed  Bluetooth Communication operational  Budget Specification not met

Future Considerations  To Reduce Cost  Design 120V to 12V Circuit  Switch to Different Bluetooth chip  Add Application for IOS Devices  Explore alternative lighting
