The new fare zones: Circle/arch model

The Circle Zone Model Zone boundaries are based on the distance from the centre of the Metropolitan area (the centre of Helsinki) The new zones will not necessarily follow any municipal boundaries There will be no internal tickets, only circle zone tickets The customer will always buy two circle zones in the inner circle zones area (A, B and C) The cheapest tickets will often cover a larger area than the present system The circle model is easier to expand, if/when the HSL-area expands and/or the municipal structure changes

TIS2014 time schedule

The fare system 2016- next steps Defining the principles of ticket prices and long term tariff policy Pricing of the zones and ticket types (season ticket, value ticket, single ticket) Reduced price ticket groups, free travel -> The effects on PT use, municipal economy etc -> the opinions/statements of the municipalities HSL Board’s decision on the principles in December 2013 How will the customer see the new system? Planning has started with TIS2014
