LOCATION Prince Edward Island is 1 of the 4 Atlantic provinces in Canada. Nova Scotia is to the south of P.E.I. The length of P.E.I is 224 km.
CAPITAL CITY The capital city is Charlottetown. Charlottetown is called “the birth place of confederation”. Charlottetown is the home of about 32,500 Canadians.
FAST FACTS In P.E.I they have the most potatoes in Canada. P.E.I’S flower is the Lady’s Slipper. P.E.I’S tree is the Northern Red Oak.
HISTORY P.E.I became a province of Canada in Britain named P.E.I after Prince Edward. The Mi’kmaq called P.E.I “Abegweit”.
PLACES TO VISIT Anne of Green Gables is about a girl growing up in P.E.I. P.E.I’S main attraction is tourism. People come from all around the world to see Green Gables house.
FARMING P.E.I’S most popular crop is potatoes. P.E.I has the biggest potato crop in Canada. P.E.I’S ground is red because of the red sandstone in the soil.
