Changes in the Healthy Families Program (HFP) Estimated number of HFP children under 5 Estimated number of HFP children already on WIC Are HFP children adjunctively eligible for WIC? Outreach Opportunities Session Outline

Changes to the Healthy Families Program Assembly Bill 1494 (Chapter 28, Statutes of 2012) eliminates the Healthy Families Program All California children currently enrolled in the HFP will transition to the Medi-Cal Program sTransition.aspx sTransition.aspx

Number of Healthy Families Children under 5 years of age There are approximately 145,000 WIC aged children that are being transitioned from HFP to Medi-Cal

Healthy Families Children already on WIC We estimate that there approximately 60,000 HFP children already on WIC. However, this number is probably much higher based on how we collect information in ISIS.

Check code

Adjunctive Eligibility Abbreviated version WIC Federal Regulations (7 CFR 246.7) Adjunct or automatic income eligibility The State agency shall accept as income-eligible for the Program any applicant who is certified as fully eligible or presumptively eligible pending completion of eligibility for medical assistance under a Title XIX of the Social Security Act program.

When a Healthy Families beneficiary transitions to Medi-Cal, they become adjunctively eligible. Until they are transitioned into Medi-Cal, you will still need to verify their income. All Healthy Families beneficiaries should be transitioned to Medi-Cal by December 2013.

Healthy Families new Medi-Cal Aid Codes New Aid Codes: 5C, 5D, H1, H2, H3, H4, H5 These codes have already been programmed in ISIS Medi-Cal may be adding new aid codes; if so, we will be notified and will update ISIS immediately
