The Slam Poets Society WELCOME!

Why be inducted? You love poetry - in class - on your own You love slam poetry - it’s your favorite kind of BW -it’s become your YouTube fix - you witnessed it/ participated with it at the Literacy Fair last year and it lit a fire in you that can’t be put asunder. You love words You love the feels You spend most of your day pushing words around (Ms. A) You finger snap whenever you like something - this includes songs, food and people

What are the requirements? Awesomeness and willingness to participate in discussions and activities Ability to stay after-school for club meetings at least once a month A journal- of any sort- to write down poetry assignments. Yes, there are poetry assignments. A yearning not just to write your own poetry but also to appreciate that of others. An understanding that poetry is as much a science as science-y things are

What will meetings be like? Meetings will begin promptly at 2:45 PM- as I am in charge, after all. We will discuss several of your own poetic ventures, workshop poems, and of course view and discuss slam poems together. Also, we will laugh. Any questions?
