SAT School Day Implementation for Spring 2015 April 15, 2015

SAT School Day: Test Center Set-up All participating schools will need to be established or re-established as test centers for the April 15, 2015 SAT School Day administration. An updated Test Center Intake Form (TCIF) will need to capture any necessary changes in information for the test centers and all designated personnel. – TCIF edits from each high school are due back to Idaho State Department of Education no later than September 19, 2014 – A Center Master Form will need to be completed and is due January 26, 2015 – All test centers will open for registration on February 4, 2015
SAT School Day: Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) Requests for accommodations for students with disabilities can be submitted at anytime, and should be submitted as soon as possible. (**It can take up to 7 weeks to review requests**) – School verification: Coordinator verifies that student has been receiving accommodations in school, has a formal plan in place, that the documentation meets College Board Guidelines – Documentation review: College Board reviews a student’s disability documentation to determine if accommodations are needed Students who were previously approved by the College Board’s SSD do not need to reapply for SAT School Day accommodations. All applications for accommodations are due by February 25, 2015 to allow for adequate review and processing time before registration closes. SAT School Day: Student Registration Student Direct registration method – Students will register using online vouchers – Vouchers are sent to designated Registration Coordinators for distribution to students Registration materials will be mailed to the Registration Coordinator on January 26, 2015 – Registration opens: February 4, 2015 – Registration ends: April 1, 2015
SAT School Day: Test Center Staff Training All instructions and materials are provided by College Board and ETS Completion of training is required for all designated test center staff Test Center Supervisor training materials mailed: February 13, 2015 Test Center Supervisor training online system launches: February 19, 2015 Training completed by April 1, 2015
Summary of Milestones Test Center Intake Form due September 19, 2014 Registration materials mailed on January 26, 2015 Online Course access provided within 25 days of quote acceptance and completed TCIF. Applications for students requiring accommodations can begin anytime & are due by February 25, 2015 Student registration window opens February 4 & ends April 1 Test center staff training begins February 19 & ends April 1 Test administration April 15 School Day makeup – April 29, 2015
SAT Online Course Implementation
The Official SAT Online Course TM Students will have access to the Official SAT Online course until the earlier of: 1) one year following the receipt of the Client's Welcome packet or 2) December 30, 2015 ("Online Course Term") – Welcome Kits with access instructions and new codes targeted for this year’s sophomores will be delivered to designated Coordinators within 40 days of completed TCIF – Please contact the College Board’s Online Course Educator support if you do not have codes for current juniors: Support and resources: – Online training session for educators
Online Course: Overview The Official SAT Online Course, available anytime and anywhere, is one of the most effective ways to get ready for the SAT. Students will have access to a wealth of features and benefits, including: 10 official practice tests from the test maker 18 interactive lessons covering the SAT mathematics, reading and writing subjects Detailed answer explanations that review concepts Automatic essay scoring with instant scores based on real SAT essays Immediate and personalized feedback
Online Course: Classroom Integration Implementation There are three different ways teachers can integrate the SAT Online Course into their classrooms: homework, quizzes, and classroom activities. SAT Online Course includes content areas and/ or skills that are taught in school – math, reading, and writing Deliver lessons, quizzes, and/ or work through questions related to content areas and/ or skills being focused on in the classroom All tests and quizzes including essays are automatically scored and teachers have access to the right answers and explanations for all questions in the SAT Online Course
Suggestions for Implementing Independent Study While the SAT Online Course can be used by students for independent study without any teacher support or structure, we recommend that schools establish some structure for independent study but allow students to opt in voluntarily. Suggested Tips for SAT Online Course Lunch Program Staff a computer lab during the lunch hour with one ELA and one Math teacher Monday – Friday that are trained on how to use the SAT Online Course Allow interested students to spend their lunch hour using the SAT Online Course, receiving support and assignments to complete on their own time Suggested class size is 25 students It helps if the students are allowed to bring their lunch Every student that signs-up should be required to complete one full SAT practice test before coming to their first session The Official SAT Question of the Day Contest Post a link to the Official SAT Question of the Day on the school website daily Encourage students to go on the site, review and answer the question, write down their answer, and turn it in at a centrally located suggestion box The criteria for winning is participation. Students can win whether they got the question right or wrong
