A lesson for a class which will be learning how to solder components on Printed Circuit Boards, and how to implement these techniques in order to make an electronic circuit board. Back to Overview

The construction and manufacture of electronic circuits involve a number of aspects, such as soldering components onto printed circuit boards, inspecting proper construction, and executing simple troubleshooting procedures in order for the electronic circuit to operate properly. Back to Overview

Working in teams, and coordinating with the instructor or lab technician, the students will share information and help each other to become familiar with the proper procedures to be followed for soldering components to Printed Circuit Boards. Students will also gain competence in operating electronic circuits. Key Content Words from the technical vocabulary include: electronic components, basic soldering tooling (soldering iron, soldering iron stand, solder, de-soldering tool, etc.), printed circuit board (vero-board). The students will learn how to use the imperative. Students will use and acquire several Cognitive Skills. They will: be able to read simple electronic circuit diagrams select the proper electronic components required for constructing an electronic circuit use basic tooling to construct a basic electronic circuit on a printed circuit board using soldering techniques operate and execute basic testing of an electronic circuit through the activities, use both HOTS & LOTS – Higher Order Thinking Skills & Lower Order Thinking Skills. Modern everyday life requires the use of advanced electronic technology. The control of all that we use relies mainly on electronics. Competence in constructing and testing an electronic circuit on a printed circuit board will help a person to: operate and use electronic equipment more safely and more correctly increase their level of competence in terms of implementing simple problem solving techniques in the event of of any malfunction execute basic technical operations such as: replacing a battery, installing equipment, etc. Back to Overview
