Where Bahrain is located Bahrain is located in the Arabian Gulf which is in the Middle East. The Middle East is in the continent of Asia. Bahrain is an island so there are no countries that border it. Some of the placed near it are Saudi Arabia, Qatar Kuwait and U.A.E. There is a Bridge connecting Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. There will also be a bridge connecting Qatar and Bahrain and it will be the longest link between two countries.

Geographic Features of Bahrain Bahrain is generally flat and arid. The highest point in Bahrain is the 122 m Jabal ad Dukhan. It has a total of 668 km squared and it is made up of thirty three islands. Bahrain has a total of 668km squared and 266mi squared. Bahrain consists of 33 islands and it does not share it’s borders with any other country.

Climate of Bahrain In Bahrain for most of the year the climate is very hot. It gets hot and also very humid because of the Arabian gulf sea surrounding the island of Bahrain. From June to October it’s hot and humid, the weather gets up to 42 degrees Celsius. From December to April the weather is mild and the weather is between degrees Celsius. From December through to March the weather can be quite cool. Rainfall is slight and occurs mainly in winter. Spring and Autumn are the most pleasant months there.

Environment of Bahrain Tubli bay in the eastern part of the island holds the last of the mangroves in the eastern part of Bahrain. There are also thousands of water birds there as well as over 45 species of birds. Although the climate over there is very hot and it rarely rains there are over 200 species of desert plants there. Gazelles and hares are close from extinction where the lizard and jerboas which is the desert rodent are very common there.

On 12th Rabiul Awal it is the prophet Mohammed's birthday.

History of Bahrain Babylonian empire British influence. Oil discovered independenc eBoom of oilshia Name of Event 7New ruler 600 B.C.Late 1800’s s sMarch 1999 In 600 B.C.. the country joined the Babylonian empire. Bahrain was associated with lush vegetation as well as being the location of the ancient Garden of Eden. In the late 1800’s the al khalifa family which are the rulers signed a treaty with the united kingdom where they would protect them from the Persian domination the was taking place there. In 1930 oil was discovered in bahrain. It was the first country in the gulf where oil was discovered. Now oil is the main export and that is what made the country rich In the year of 1971 bahrain gained independenc e from the U.K. that was a very big step for them because it meant they had to do everything by themselves. In the 1970s bahrain made a lot of money. In those years they got a lot of oil and the rate at which they got it tripled. That made their economy and society grow fast. A lot of shia Muslims began traveling to bahrain coming from Iran. That made the population of shia there skyrocket. In the 1990s a feud between the government and cleric left opposition started. although the government came victorious in the end 40 people have died. In that time King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa succeeded his late father as ruler of the country. Since that has happened he made the right for woman to vote.

Government of Bahrain Bahrain is a constitutional monarchy leaded by the King, Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The head of government is the Prime Minister, Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa. The cabinet is made up of 23 people. The first elections for the members of parliament took place in The rulers in Bahrain are al khalifa and it will stay like that for a long time passing through descendents. Although 70% of the country are Shia the rulers and the government are Sunni.

Economy of Bahrain In Bahrain petroleum production is the most important resource. It is 60% of the exports, 60% of the government revenues and 30% of the countries GDP. Bahrain’s natural resources include very large amounts of oil natural gas and fish. Arable land represents only 2.82% of the total area. Desert represents 92% of Bahrain. In 2004, Bahrain signed the US-Bahrain Free Trade Agreement. That mean the trade between the two countries will be easier.

Tourism in Bahrain Bahrain is a very popular place for tourists. It gets about 8 million tourists a year mostly from surrounding Arab nations but the numbers from outside the region is growing rapidly due to the countries rich legacy and the Bahrain formula one race track. It is described as “an excellent introduction to the Persian gulf.” the kingdom of Bahrain is a combinations of Arabic culture, gulf glitz and archeological legacy that date to 5000 years ago. The Bahrain national museum has artifacts that date to 9000 years ago.

Physical Bahrain is a very flat country. That not different from the countries surrounding it such as Qatar, Saudi Arabia and U.A.E. They are mostly flat. The highest point you will find in bahrain is 122 m which is Jabal ad Dukhan. Bahrain consists of 33 islands. The total area is 668 km squared so you can’t find a lot of things in it. There are some seas that are located in bahrain but not a lot. Bahrain doesn’t share it’s borders with any other country so that makes it an island. Hawar island which is between Qatar and bahrain now belongs to bahrain after a long feud between both countries.

Politics In Bahrain Islam is a very large issue. That is because it is different then the different countries surrounding it. In those countries Sunni is the dominant religion. Now in Bahrain over 70% of the population is shia. That is causing problems because the rulers and the government are Sunni. Shia now want to rule the country but don’t have the power since the army and most of the things are in control of the al khalifa family as well as that the shia don’t have enough money to rule the country and keep it on their tracks.

Society In bahrain there are not a lot of different kind of people. That is because the population is not very large. The people in bahrain are mainly divided into religions. Although you might think that Muslim Sunni is dominating the country like other neighbors you are wrong. Most of the country is shia. The government consists of mostly Sunnis but there are also Christians, Jews and some shia the are in the permanent parliament. They did that so the country would be fair for all the different people that live there.
