State Seal Information The state was adopted to the “United States” on March 15, 1877. The state seal has an eye on the top which resembles the “eye of God” It also has a bundle of rods at the top which resembles strength. The axe resembles authority and leadership.

State Motto The Colorado state motto is “Nil Sine Numine” This translates from Latin to English as “Nothing Without Providence” This is not what the original designers wanted it to actually mean. They wanted it to mean “Nothing Without the Deity” or in other words, “Nothing Without God”.
