Airborne Computing & Processing Mission Computer Mission Display Processor Radar Data Processor Air Data Processor Acoustic Processor General Avionics Computer Flight Management Computer Electronic Data Management System Weapons System Processor Head-up Display Weapon Aiming Computer Navigation/Attack Computer Data Acquisition Unit Tactical Pilot’s Awareness Computer Flight Data Monitoring & Recording Unit

Flight Management Computer (FMC) The flight management computers can be found on most commercial & business aircraft Flight management computers assists the pilot in navigation, flight planning & aircraft control Provides real-time navigation information such as the programmed route, database waypoints & standard departure/arrival procedures Navigation information combined with airplane position used to drive moving map displays Calculates performance data and vertical profiles based on weight, cost index, cruise altitude and predicted winds Provides lateral and vertical path guidance to the auto-flight system when engaged Auto-Flight System - Auto-throttle - Flight Directors Electronic Flight Instrument System - Attitude Indicator - Heading Indicator Aircraft Position - Inertial Reference System - Global Positioning System - Navaids (VOR/DME/ADF) Flight Management Computer - Navigation Database - Performance Calculations

Engine Indicating & Crew Alerting System (EICAS) EICAS is designed to provide integrated engine information and crew annunciations Displays high and low turbine RPM, exhaust pressure ratio, temperature, oil pressure and fuel flow indications The crew alerting feature provides EICAS messages, flight deck lamp control and aural alerts Typical systems monitored by EICAS include hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, deicing, environmental controls and flight controls surfaces High connectivity, provides data acquisition and routing

Modular Mission Computer (MMC) General Avionics Computer/Fire Control Computer Head-Up Display Electronics Unit Central Interface Unit Stores Management Computer Uses 64-bit wide architecture with a 1245 hour mean time between failure 15 modules in the 24 slot chassis, 6 processor, 4 I/O, 5 Power Supplies, 9 Future Growth Employs digital data bus channesl to communicate with avionics systems Enhances situational awareness, air-to-air capabilities & targeting accuracies Enables use of helmet mounted cueing systems, advanced weapons loads, reconnaissance pods, forward looking infrared targeting & navigation systems

Navigation/Attack Computer Allows military aircraft to locate and attack specific ground targets with a high degree of accuracy Digital computing technology is used to integrate a wide variety of sensors to compile data and present it to the aircrew Typical Navigation/Attack computers uses Inertial Reference Systems to locate the target without having to rely on active sensors such as radar which can be detected Inertial positions periodically updated with GPS, VOR/DME/ADF or Doppler Radar Provides lateral guidance commands to the auto-flight system if coupled Computes range to target and other parameters required for weapons delivery The crew authorizes a weapons release but the computer is responsible for releasing the weapon compensating for wind, aircraft speed and other factors
