Ancient India BY: Hailee *

New York Public Library’s Digital Collections What did you find on the home page? : I found many different buttons that led to the recently digitized things. There were pictures of different people on the screen. Was there a search box to enter keywords? :Yes there was and this helped because the rest of links on the page were very confusing. Was the display confusing? : Yes I think that this display was confusing because there were so many different things popping up on the screen. I honestly didn’t know what to click on. What features did you find? : I found lots of pictures of my topic, Ancient India, and the picture showed info about when the photo was issued. When you ran a search did you find what you were looking for? : I didn’t really. I was looking for different information about Ancient India, not just pictures. Did you find anything cool? : Actually I found the pictures to be pretty cool and fascinating because I have never seen some of these different things from India before *

National Archives vs. Library of Congress Features Display (confusing/ or easy) User Friendly Anything Cool? National Archives The National Archives had a search box, but the results were not what I wanted. The display was confusing because the results and had nothing to do with India. I cannot say this was the most user friendly website, but it had a search engine. On the website, you could change your search to advanced. Library of Congress The Library of Congress had a search box and had the info I was looking for. (Ancient India) The display was easy because I could easily find the info I was looking for using the search box. This was user friendly because I understood all of the information. The website has all topics from manuscripts to veterans. *

Life Photo Archive vs. World Digital Library Features Display (confusing/ easy) User Friendly Anything Cool? Life Photo Archive Life Photo Archive had pictures and links that took you to the topic you clicked. The display was easy. You clicked the photo of your topic or searched it. This wasn’t user friendly because the search would take you to google.com The website did have pictures that provided a visualization of your topic. World Digital Library The World Digital Library had a map of the world on it with different pictures you can click. I liked the display. It was easy and good because I just have to click the continent India is on. I actually don’t think this was user friendly because you have to go through many search results. I thought that the idea of having a world map as part of the search engine. This makes it easier. *

Additional Information Which two websites did you like best? Why? : I liked the Library of Congress because they had easy to understand information and they had the topic I was looking for. I also liked the World Digital Library because they had a map of the world and there was a lot of good information. Was there a website you absolutely did not like? : Yes I absolutely didn’t like the National Archives. I didn’t like this website because when I searched for ‘Ancient India’ in the search box, nothing that I was looking for came up. It wasn’t convenient. Indus River located in India. *
