ABCBIOGRAPHY

cclaimed for his impeccable short stories and poems, Edgar Allan Poe has been entitled as one of the best horror/gothic authors oston, Massachusetts was the birthplace of Poe on January 19, harleston, South Carolina was where Elizabeth Arnold Poe, his mother, made a living as a successful actress. Avid Poe Jr. and Elizabeth fell in love, got married, and soon had a family of their own. Dgar Allan Poe, William Henry Leonard, and Rosalie Mackenzie were their children. eeling frustrated with his family, David left his children when they were very young. Ravely ill, Elizabeth, lingering on her bed of disease and surrounded by her children, she died.

enry, Rosalie, and Edgar unfortunately had to separate and go to different homes. ohn Allan was neglectful and refused to cover Edgar’s expenses. eeping his anger towards John’s ignorance, Edgar continued to struggle in the University of Virginia. ater, after Frances Allan died, and John drove Edgar out of his home. oving on, Poe went to Boston to publish a volume of poetry: Tamerlane and Other Poems. ow on May 26, 1827, Poe enlisted in the United States Army and served for two years. n continuation, Edgar was taken in by Frances Allan and her husband, John.

ver time Edgar decided to move to Baltimore with his Aunt Maria Clemm and cousin, Virginia. uite often, Poe wrote volumes of burlesque tales such as Tales of the Folio Club. ight after editing the Southern Literary Messenger, Poe went to Philadelphia to edit Burton’s Gentleman’s Magazine. oon in 1840, Poe’s Tales of the Grotesque and Arabesque was published in two volumes. he Raven was published in 1845 and it made Poe immensely famous. nfortunately, Virginia died on January 30, 1847 due to tuberculosis. oe and Virginia soon realized their feelings for each other and they got married on May 16, 1836.

ile as it may seem, Poe became subjected to alcohol and it gave him a “self-lacking” reputation. -ing a Paragrab got published in 1850 even after his death. ear by ear, Poe’s stories are still being sold a read today. ealously, by virtue of his exceptional writing, Edgar Allan Poe has made a huge impact on horror/gothic literature and has inspired many other famous writers. hether he drank too much or was mugged, Poe sadly died on October 7,

Edgar Allan Poe, a beloved gothic writer, renowned for his poem, “The Raven”, died last Sunday on October 7, He was found laying on the street with someone else’s clothes. People are extremely astonished by his sudden death. Now police are investigating the incident and have drawn two conclusions. ALCOHOLISMCOOPING THEORY

The day Edgar Allan Poe was found, was also election day. Edgar Allan Poe was found laying in the streets near Ryan’s Fourth Ward Polls, which is both a place for voting and a bar. It is said that in Baltimore, there are series of occasions where gangs would take people hostage and force them to vote more than once for the politician in which the gang favored. The victims would be held in a small room, otherwise known as a “coop”, and they would be beaten and given liquor. Additionally, the victim’s clothing would be changed. This Cooping Theory was offered publicly by John R. Thompson in the 1870s. Since Edgar Allan Poe already had a weak heart caused by drinking, he would have never survived this cruelty. The only problem is that Edgar Allan Poe was so well known that he would be recognized. COOPING THEORY

Well how did he die? The Cooping Theory seems to be more reliable. 1.Edgar Allan Poe was found on the street in someone’s clothing and not his own. 2.Edgar Allan Poe’s fame allowed him to be recognized, but if he was beaten enough or had his face covered, his appearance would change. 3.Due to the harsh treatment, Edgar Allan Poe’s heart condition would be too vulnerable to withstand this cruelty.
