Sentence Fragments A sentence fragment is part of a sentence set off by a capital letter and final punctuation. It is not a complete idea, but is instead a part of an idea. It cannot be left alone. Don't ever let length be your guide, for a sentence can be two words (He jumps) and a fragment fifty.
